What is the Role of Specialized Agencies in Joint Programmes?

A. Well designed Joint Programmes will provide the opportunity for the Specialized Agencies to deploy their technical skills alongside financial resource from the Excom agencies. Experience in the pilots has shown that Specialized Agencies can have a strong role to play in leading and contributing to these programmes. The multi- sectorial/multi-faceted nature of many UNDAF development issues and desired outcomes means that we must prioritize multi-disciplinary collaboration among appropriate combinations of UN entities, regardless of whether their status as Specialized Agencies and Excom Agencies.
